One Bowl Chocolate Chip Banana Bread – A super moist, easy banana bread made in just one bowl and loaded with chocolate chips for extra decadence.

Just a quick note: this recipe was originally published in January 2017. We recently updated the post to add a video, but the chocolate chip banana bread recipe is unchanged.
Banana bread is one of those treats I crave all year, but I especially love baking it when the weather cools and the oven feels worth turning on. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons for baking. While I enjoy quick weeknight dinners, there’s something comforting about spending a weekend morning or afternoon in the kitchen making a loaf of banana bread.
When I first started the blog I planned on focusing mainly on baking, but over time I began sharing more quick and practical meals too — the recipes many of us use week after week. Still, I always come back to baking sweets, and this one-bowl chocolate chip banana bread is a favorite because it’s both simple and reliably delicious.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
This one-bowl method keeps things easy and minimizes cleanup. The loaf is tender from the sour cream and bananas, and chocolate chips add pockets of melty richness.
- Mash ripe bananas until smooth, then stir in melted butter and sour cream.
- Add granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- Gently stir in the dry ingredients — flour, baking soda, and salt — being careful not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into a prepared 9×5-inch loaf pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Enjoy!
