Crispy Bacon-Wrapped Halloumi Bites Recipe

These Bacon Halloumi Bites are incredibly simple to make and always disappear fast. The combination of squeaky halloumi and salty bacon with a hint of black pepper and fresh chives makes them utterly moreish — ideal for parties, barbecues or casual get-togethers.

They’re small, flavour-packed and perfect as finger food. Serve them hot from the oven with cocktail sticks and watch them vanish — guests will ask for seconds and the recipe.

These bites work for any occasion and pair well with other crowd-pleasing dishes. If you’d like something bigger as a centrepiece, consider a pull-apart bread or other shareable recipes.

Ingredients

Ingredients to make 24 bites:

  • 1 x 225g (7.9 oz) block of halloumi cheese
  • 12 rashers smoked streaky bacon
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped chives
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C) / 392°F. Line a large baking sheet with foil.

2. Cut the halloumi into 24 equal pieces and set aside.

3. Using the back of a knife, gently stretch each bacon rasher to thin it. This helps the bacon cook more quickly and stretch further. Cut each rasher in half to create 24 strips.

4. Sprinkle each bacon strip with chopped chives and a little black pepper. Avoid adding salt—the bacon and halloumi are already salty.

5. Place a piece of halloumi at the end of each bacon strip and roll tightly. Arrange the rolls on the prepared tray in a single layer.

6. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the bacon is golden and crisp.

7. Serve immediately while hot. Arrange on a platter with cocktail sticks so guests can help themselves.
