This Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie Bowl is a delightful way to start your day. It’s filling and flavorful, packed with bananas, peanut butter, and rich chocolate.
Few flavor pairings are as classic as peanut butter and chocolate. I love them together in desserts and breakfasts alike, so I adapted that combination into a smoothie bowl for a creamy, decadent breakfast or snack.

This is the second smoothie bowl I’ve made for my family, and it’s a hit. It’s creamy, chocolatey, and peanut-butter forward — perfect for breakfast or an afternoon treat.
Fair warning: it’s on the sweet side. Between the cocoa and the peanut butter, this bowl satisfies a sweet tooth. If you enjoy sweeter breakfasts, you’ll love this.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
- Chocolate – I used coarsely chopped chocolate for the topping because it looks pretty and gives a satisfying bite. Use a sharp knife to chop or a vegetable peeler to create curls. Chocolate chips work just as well.
- Cocoa Powder – Unsweetened cocoa powder adds deep chocolate flavor. I used Hershey’s cocoa for a rich taste.
- Peanut Butter – A creamy peanut butter gives the best texture and flavor. Swap in almond butter if you prefer another nut butter.
- Greek Yogurt – Plain Greek yogurt boosts protein and adds creaminess. It also brings probiotics, vitamin B12, and calcium.
- Frozen Bananas – Frozen bananas create the thick, ice-cream-like texture. Bananas are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and they make a great base for smoothies.
- Toppings – Consider granola, chopped chocolate, sliced banana, and an optional drizzle of peanut butter to finish the bowl.
Recipe Tip
Freeze bananas peeled and sliced. Peeling them before freezing saves time and hassle later. I learned this the hard way—frozen peels are difficult to remove!

Chill your serving bowl in the freezer while you prepare the smoothie to help it stay cold and thick longer. Smoothie bowls are excellent for a quick, nutritious breakfast or a satisfying snack. If you have leftovers, cover and refrigerate — the flavors mellow and it can taste even better the next day.
How to Make a Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. The texture should be thick, similar to soft-serve ice cream. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add additional milk a tablespoon at a time. Scoop or pour the mix into your chilled bowl.
Prepare your toppings before blending so you can add them immediately while the bowl is still cold. I topped mine with sliced banana, coarsely chopped chocolate, and granola. Drizzle warmed peanut butter on top for an extra hit of flavor.
If you drizzle peanut butter, warm it briefly in the microwave in 15–30 second bursts until it reaches a pourable consistency, stirring between intervals. Then use a spoon to drizzle it over the bowl.

Recipe Tip
To thin peanut butter for drizzling, place it in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. Stir and continue in 15-second increments until it loosens to the desired consistency.
A creamy, chocolatey smoothie bowl ready to enjoy. Enjoy!
