Creamy Cherry Smoothie Recipe for Fresh, Fruity Mornings

Besides the gorgeous color, I love this sweet cherry smoothie because it tastes almost like cherry candy while using wholesome, natural ingredients. The color and flavor come from real fruit β€” no artificial dyes or flavorings.

Cherries are packed with nutrients and antioxidants, making them a delicious and healthy addition to your morning routine. I often make this smoothie in spring and summer when cherries are ripe and abundant at the farmers market.

Ingredient Notes

This simple smoothie calls for just a few pantry staples. A few tips to get the best results:

  • Cherries – Use fresh or frozen dark sweet cherries. Fresh cherries make a lighter, drinkable smoothie; frozen cherries give a thicker, milkshake-like texture. Avoid tart pie cherries for this recipe.
  • Nut Butter – Cashew butter works beautifully, but any nut butter will add a touch of protein and help thicken the blend.
  • Milk of Choice – Unsweetened coconut or almond milk are great options. Use your preferred dairy or plant-based milk for flavor and consistency you like.

Expert Tips

  • Freeze the fruit – Freezing cherries or bananas in small portions makes it easy to blend a consistently thick and creamy smoothie. It’s also handy for meal prep.
  • Milk first – If your blender has the blades at the bottom, adding the milk first helps ingredients circulate and blend more smoothly.
