My husband and I enjoyed a lovely weekend and introduced a new routine we’re excited about: Yoga Sundays. Weekends are a chance to unwind, reconnect, move our bodies, and enjoy each other’s company. I practiced yoga regularly in college but stopped when life got busy. My body missed it, and now I’m ready to return to a regular practice. Today we completed our first Yoga Sunday.

We started the morning with eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit while listening to calming music. Because our gym is just across the street, we walked there and set up in a small studio room. Our session lasted about 45 minutes — short but just right — focusing on flexibility and breath work. It felt rejuvenating and set a peaceful tone for the day. We’re planning to buy new mats next week, which makes me even more motivated to stick with this new weekly tradition.

After yoga we went home, showered, and I made one of my favorite smoothies. This one is a household hit — my husband says it tastes like an almond-butter-and-jelly sandwich — so I poured him a large glass. I’m especially excited about smoothies right now for another reason: I’m finishing a Paleo smoothie cookbook. The book will feature 150 smoothie recipes focused on nutritious, delicious options, and the Paleo Cocoa Recovery Smoothie you’ll find below is one of the recipes that will appear in it.

I’m putting the final touches on the manuscript and will submit it to my publisher at the end of the month. Publication takes time, but I’ll share updates as the process moves forward. In the meantime, enjoy this Paleo Cocoa Recovery Smoothie — a decadent, filling option that makes a great mid-afternoon snack or post-workout treat.
