Smoked Salami and Roasted Pepper Pinwheels

These Smoked Salami Pepper Rolls may look like a simple salami roll, but smoking the cream cheese on a smoker or Traeger pellet grill transforms them into a standout appetizer. The low-and-slow smoke adds a subtle wood-fired flavor, while banana pepper rings provide crunch and a bright, tangy bite.

They’re perfect for parties because you can prepare them ahead and keep them chilled until it’s time to serve.

How to Make Smoked Salami Pepper Rolls

Unwrap an 8-ounce block of cream cheese and place it on a piece of foil. Make diagonal cuts about a half inch deep across the top of the block—this allows smoke to penetrate and creates a rustic texture.

Place the foil-wrapped cream cheese on your smoker or Traeger pellet grill set to 180°F (about 82°C). Smoke the cream cheese for roughly 2 hours. There’s no need to flip or tend to it while it smokes.

When the cream cheese is done, let it cool slightly. Lay out thin slices of salami and banana pepper rings.

Spread a spoonful of the smoked cream cheese on each salami slice. Cut each banana pepper ring in half and place a half-ring in the center of the salami. Roll the salami up around the pepper and cream cheese until snug.
