I think this may be my favorite beach so far. We’ve visited many beaches around Cape Town, and each one has been remarkable, but this stretch felt especially peaceful. It was quiet, mostly uncrowded, clean, and framed by beautiful sand and clear water. During our visit a couple was exchanging vows on the shore, which added a lovely, calm atmosphere.
At the beach entrance we were greeted by a warning sign advising caution.
The water looked inviting, but I wasn’t comfortable going in beyond ankle depth. Despite the warnings, a few surfers were out enjoying the waves.
Many Cape Town beaches are dotted with large boulders, and this one was no exception. When the rocks are climbable they offer great vantage points and a chance to sit right above the water. I’m more cautious about scrambling up them, while my fiancé eagerly scales every rock he can find. There’s a lot of climbing on our outings—he loves it, and the views are worth it.
He paused long enough for me to capture one of my favorite photos of him. From those higher spots you can appreciate the coastline in a different way.
Like other areas around Cape Town, there were tiny lizards darting across the rocks, adding small bursts of life to the landscape.
The view behind us was equally impressive, stretching into rocky headlands and open ocean.
Each visit to a Cape Town beach reveals something new, and I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of these coastal scenes.
